Film Description
| London's own Agzilla (aka Deckwrecka) follows his impressive debut LP V For Vengeance with A Better Tomorrow, another mammoth dose (19 tracks) of fierce rap and earth shattering bass. At turns ferocious and soulful, Agzilla and his extensive crew of guests can truly claim the right to compete with their American counterparts with this self-assured, perfectly produced set. Unleashing urban angst at a spellbinding rate, rappers Rodney P, MCD and co sound both genuinely aggravated and ravenous for recognition. "Feel Me" is gangster rap Londinium stylee, both fierce and darkly comic, its only fault is the use of colloquialisms such as "knobhead". "Who's That Girl" meanwhile cools things down by blending infectious funk with the sensual soul-drenched vocals of Rosita Lynch. As usual, sci-fi effects--the newfound rap ubiquity--are much in evidence on "4010" and "Vibekiller", the latter sounding like a paranoid rock guitar-fuelled soundtrack to Robocop. While the ground remains firmly intact, Agzilla certainly shakes things up with his most convincing work to date. --Christopher Barrett |
